Cottage Food Water Test

Well Certification

The Georgia Department of Agriculture mandates annual private well testing for water from private wells. Typically, this testing focuses on water quality testing for Total Coliform and E. coli bacteria. However, we have encountered some licensing requirements that include testing for Iron, Lead, Nitrates, and Nitrites as well. It is advisable to contact your local zoning and ordinance office to determine if any additional testing is necessary for well certification. Please inform us of what needs to be tested to meet the requirements for your license and/or permit.

From your mobile food service's base of operation, you may need to provide proof that the water meets drinking water standards set forth by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division, especially if your home is not served by a municipal drinking water supply, such as a private well. This documentation may also be required by your local health department or licensing authorities. Typically, this involves water quality testing for Total Coliform and E. coli bacteria. However, local licensing may also require additional private well testing for Iron, Lead, pH, and Nitrates. Please inform us of the specific tests needed to satisfy your well certification and/or permit requirements.

Well Certification

This may be required in addition to the water quality testing to satisfy your licensing and/or permit requirements.

Physical Condition

Our Field Technician will perform a non-intrusive visual inspection and report on the type of well, the condition of the wellhead, and any readily accessible equipment as part of the private well testing process.

Well Performance

As part of the well certification, our Field Technician will measure and report the short-term flow rate (G.P.M.) and pressure (P.S.I). This assessment is necessary to confirm that the well can provide a sufficient amount of water to the dwelling(s).

Proper Distance

Our Field Technician will measure and report the distance between the well and septic system. This measurement is essential to ensure compliance with local requirements and/or codes.
